Objectives and Opening Check-In
Introduction
Welcome back! Last time we were together we talked about how to identify when you need to advocate for yourselves, practice developing and mapping out self-advocacy skills, and find the connection between self-advocacy and professional development. In this module, we are going to talk about the foundations of financial readiness.
We will encourage you to explore the foundation to planning, budgeting and investing. Many of you have been navigating the workforce, paying bills and saving money for some time now. Some of you might be newer to the financial planning and budgeting.
Wherever you land on the spectrum of quote “financial readiness it’s always helpful to pause and take stock of things before starting a new chapter. Your work as an OMD apprentice is a new chapter. And before we dig into the basics we’ll want to reflect on our experiences with money and planning and understand what money truly means to us.
Objectives
- Explore concepts related to financial readiness.
- Examine our knowledge of financial terminology
- Reflect on our own experiences with budgeting, planning and investing
Opening Discussion:
Financial literacy can be a difficult topic, but it can also connect be part of envisioning the future we want for ourselves.
