Power With: Social Power

"Power with" is a shared power. Power with shows up when individuals collaborate, build relationships, and share power and ownership. It is built on respect, mutual support, solidarity, influence, empowerment and collaborative decision making.

Social power might look like allowing others to share responsibility on a project or your manager giving you choice of a project or task opposed to delegating to you. This type of power helps everyone feel respected and can go a long way in building a positive workplace culture where conflict is prevented.
