4 I’s Of Oppression - Recap
In the last module, we discussed the 4 I’s of oppression. When tackling concepts like equity & inclusion in the workplace often time we must challenge and interrupt Institutional oppression – which includes policies and practices.
Ideological - A system of ideas or beliefs
Institutional – Using the laws, the legal system, the education system, public policy etc. to maintain ideology
Interpersonal – When one group believes they are better than another and has the right to dominate/control the other.
Internalized - The oppressor doesn’t have to exert more pressure because we now do it to ourselves
