Putting It All Together

Today we began our time together thinking about our values – the things that are important to us - and digging into the importance of values as we navigate our professional, personal & academic journeys.

It’s important to remember that our Values are the things that are important to us. Our goals are what we intend to accomplish to fulfill our values.

The clearer we are about our values the harder it will be to settle for less. The clearer we are about our values the SMART (er) our goals will be. The clearer we are about goals the more empowered we will feel in work, in life and in relationships with others.

As you continue in this curriculum, we will dig into these concepts and checking in with your goals. All of this work is in service of you strengthening your professional identity and feeling powerful in the workplace.

Let's Get to Work!

At the end of every module, we'll be giving you a set of activities you can complete before starting the next one. These activities are meant to move from the big ideas of the module to something concrete you can work on before starting next module.

These activities are also meant to widen your learning community. Now that you've worked on your own and discussed with classmates, these prompts invite you to take the conversation to a friend, family member, or college staff member you feel comfortable with.

You can find the materials for this module below!

Set Goals Like a Pro!

Excited to get working on your goals, but need more support to get it done? No problem! Below you'll find a set of worksheets that you can use to fill in highly-detailed plans to achieve the goals that matter most to YOU.

You can download to fill out on your computer or print to fill out on paper (the download link is right below the window to view the PDF). The worksheet includes prompts to break your goal down into periodic milestones, name all your action steps, and choose who is going to keep you accountable. Don't forget to pick someone you trust to give you reminders and talk through any barriers with you!

Making My Career Fit Me

The document below describes twelve very specific traits of any job you might be considering. Take some time to rank those traits in terms of how much each one matters to you. Some might be very important, and some might not matter at all.

To get the most out of this activity, do this with a friend, relative, or trusted college staff member and explain your answers to each other!
