We’ve all been in a place where we had a difficult time figuring out what we needed to be successful. It's a very normal experience for many of us. Knowing what you need is a journey, and it can be very rewarding when you figure out the language to express your needs.

Knowing what you need and how to advocate for your needs supports your personal and professional development.

Knowing how to identify moments when you should speak up for yourself is necessary and can make your experience in work and school more fulfilling.

As a learning community, we're here together to help each other understand our needs and advocate for them!

What is Self-Advocacy?

Self-advocacy is knowing yourself, speaking up for your needs, and figuring out a way to get what you need to be successful. This is a skill to support your success in all areas of your life. Note that self-advocacy will often require that others step in to support you, so understanding how to communicate your needs is vital.
