Holding Each Other Accountable

If you experience or witness an interaction that you believe was harmful, please consider the following approach.

This image shows three boxes. The first says "checking in" with an arrow pointing to another box that says "calling in vs calling out." Another arrow points from that box to a third that says "disrupt the situation."

  • Checking In: Take a moment to check in with your colleague/supervisor to assess the situation and determine if more support is required.
  • Calling In vs. Calling Out: Call your colleague/supervisor “IN” for dialogue vs. calling “OUT”” for using harmful language
  • Disrupt the Situation: If someone is being harassed or threatened you can try to distract the harasser or insert yourself into their interaction to help the targeted person get out of the situation.
